ROOKIE PEREIRA LEADS BY THREE

Tour rookie Mito Pereira spent four hours soaring and sliding in the cold and wind at the PGA Championship on Saturday. He called it the biggest round of his life, one that gave him an idea of what to expect Sunday. Pereira soared to a five-shot lead, then nearly lost it all in six holes. And when a third round as fickle as the wind finally ended, the 27-year-old from Chile led by three shots — at 9-under 201 — over Matt Fitzpatrick and Will Zalatoris. Only 16 golfers are under par at Southern Hills. Adam Hadwin, the only Canadian to make the cut, was 9-over.
