Paramount Plus has greenlit two new Canadian TV series for its streaming service: a comedy drama about a limo driver struggling to be a “fun dad” after the death of his wife; and a com- edy about an actor turned prime minister of Canada from Michael McGowan, the Toron- to writer-director known for the movies “Still Mine,” “Saint Ralph” and “Score: A Hockey Musical.” McGowan’s “Elected” and “Bensen,” created by Clara Altimas, a writer on “Strays” and “Kim’s Convenience,” are being produced by Boat Rocker Media, the Toronto company behind shows like “Orphan Black,” “Invasion” and “Robyn Hood.” Paramount Plus will premiere its first original docu- mentary, “500 Days in the Wild,” Friday at the Whistler In- ternational Film Festival.
