Eagles have edge in Super Bowl rematch

AVERY PERRI

The Philadelphia Eagles will visit the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl LVII rematch on Monday night. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs erased a 10-point halftime deficit to win their second Lombardi Trophy, but Jalen Hurts and Co. are on a mission.

Best bet

Eagles +2 1⁄2 (-110)

Betting against the Chiefs at Arrowhead is scary, but Philadelphia feels like one of the few teams that can walk into the fire and come out victorious.

The Eagles are a league-best 8-1 thanks to a prolific offence: thirdmost points per game (28).

The defence isn’t quite living up to expectations, but it’s still a capable unit. And against this version of Kansas City’s offence, that’s not a huge concern. The Chiefs are averaging 23.1 points (13th), 6.1 points below their league-best mark last season.

You can blame the receiving corps for that. Outside of Travis Kelce,

K.C. doesn’t have a single player with more than 400 receiving yards after nine games. And two-time MVP Mahomes averaged just 212.5 passing yards in his last two outings, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The bye will have done Kansas City some good, but Philadelphia is also coming off a week of rest.

Key stat

Philadelphia has scored 25-plus points in seven of nine games, while Kansas City has only done that twice.
