NFL ROUNDUP

Lions 31 Bears 26

David Montgomery ran for a oneyard touchdown with 29 seconds left against his former team, and Detroit rallied at home to beat Chicago. Bears quarterback Justin Fields, back after missing a month with a thumb injury, threw for 169 yards and added a career-high 18 carries for 104 rushing yards. The Lions improved to 8-2 for the first time since 1962.

Browns 13 Steelers 10

Dustin Hopkins kicked a 34-yard field goal with two seconds left, after rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed four straight clutch passes, and Cleveland beat Pittsburgh. Making his second NFL start after Deshaun Watson was lost for the season with a shoulder injury, Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round draft pick out of UCLA, rallied the Browns with the crowd chanting “D-T-R!” and Watson watching from the sideline.

49ers 27 Buccaneers 14

Brock Purdy threw a 76-yard strike to Brandon Aiyuk for one of three touchdown passes, and San Francisco beat Tampa Bay. Purdy finished 21 for 25 for 333 yards and became the first Niners quarterback ever to post a perfect passer rating in a game with at least 20 attempts.

Dolphins 20 Raiders 13

Jalen Ramsey had two of Miami’s three interceptions, including a pick in the end zone that put the game away with 22 seconds left, and the Dolphins overcame three turnovers of their own to beat visiting Las Vegas and improve to 7-3. Tua Tagovailoa went 28 of 39 for 325 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Miami. He also lost his third fumble of the season, on Miami’s opening drive. Tyreek Hill caught 10 passes for 146 yards, including his league-leading eighth touchdown.

Giants 31 Commanders 19

Sam Howell threw three interceptions among six turnovers by reeling Washington, which may have reached the low point of coach Ron Rivera’s tenure by losing to undrafted quarterback Tommy DeVito and last-place New York. Two of the Giants’ three wins this season have been against the Commanders, who were favoured by more than a touchdown.

Packers 23 Chargers 20

Jordan Love threw for 322 yards, the first 300-yard game by a Packers quarterback since Aaron Rodgers in 2021, and Green Bay beat Los Angeles. The Chargers suffered a major blow when star edge rusher Joey Bosa was carted off with a foot injury on the opening series.
