A year after confirming their engagement, three-time Olympic gold medallist Tessa Virtue has revealed that she and Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly got married in two secret weddings, according to an exclusive report from HELLO! Magazine.
“You know when something is just so meaningful to you that you simultaneously want to just hold on to it and protect it so fiercely, and also shout it from the rooftops?” Virtue reportedly told the publication.
The couple went public with their engagement in January 2023. Virtue explained in a “Without Losing Your Cool” podcast episode that she met Rielly through friends in Vancouver.
According to the HELLO! report, which included exclusive photos of the newly weds, the couple first had an intimate ceremony in Toronto’s Noce restaurant and then a second event with a dinner in Tuscany.
Some of the couple’s photographs were captured by Toronto wedding photographer Richelle Hunter. According to her website, she is drawn to “effortless, airy, timeless imagery that is focused on light and the ‘inbetween’ moments.”
Throughout the ceremonies, Virtue wore three couture dresses from Toronto designer Jaclyn Whyte. “She had a vision and I totally trusted her,” the Olympian reportedly said. Whyte and her mother Francesca Guzzo-Whyte are the designers behind WHYTE Couture, a Canadian company born in Toronto in 2011, which offers custom wedding dresses and evening wear. (They’ll be releasing their first prêt-à-porter collection this year.) Though it’s unclear from the HELLO! article when the couple held their wedding ceremonies, sharp-eyed fans noticed that Rielly was spotted wearing what appeared to be a wedding band in an ad for his collaboration with Peace Collective in November.
