Proper housing needed to attract newcomers

I am concerned about the increasing homelessness in Toronto and other places in Ontario.

My family came as refugees in 1968 with no money. We were able find an affordable apartment right away in a private rental building.

Other refugee families that came with us were able to get apartments in social housing within a year. We all prospered and moved on.

We need more immigrants to come to Ontario, and if we want to attract quality people we have to make sure there is proper housing available to them.

The provincial government needs again to spend money to create affordable and supportive housing. The city does not have the money to do it alone.

If the government of Ukraine is able to shelter its people in the middle of a war, why can’t our wealthy society take care of its own people?

We will be judged by how we treat those that cannot help themselves.
