Hold Ford accountable for clause abuse

Doug Ford has no regrets about using notwithstanding clause, promises more pay for lowest-income CUPE workers, Nov. 9

The Emergencies Act is designed to be a judiciously administered, last-resort response to matters of national crisis and not to be invoked lightly.

The federal Liberals have spent the last week successfully defending its use in dismantling the so-called “Freedom Convoy.” What puzzles me is how Premier Doug Ford’s Conservatives have similarly used the notwithstanding clause with absolutely no repercussions. The clause is also meant to be an extraordinary measure of last resort.

Shouldn’t Ford also be held accountable for his actions, as the Liberals have been? John Fraser, Toronto
