Focus on making city more livable
Time to debate what Toronto should be, Keenan, Sept. 24 There was once talk about how Toronto should be a “livable city,” and what that means. CaféTO brought citizens out to public spaces and that is what is needed more. More parks for people living in towers, and more natural enhancement to our waterfront, would bring people out walking, enjoying picnics and sports by the lake.
The interference of the provincial government in city council, the “strong mayor” system and drastic intrusion into the city fabric with the Ontario line, makes me wonder what the province has planned for our city.
Is their intention to favour development over liveability? Just exactly whom does a subway line to the CNE serve? These are issues that need to be discussed before construction begins. Diane Sullivan, Toronto
