Pedestrian hit, dragged by van driver

A man is in the hospital with lifethreatening injuries after being struck by the driver of a minivan Sunday morning, police said.
Just after midnight, a 36-year-old man in the northbound lane of Church Street was struck by the driver of a grey Honda minivan travelling north, Toronto Police said. According to police, the pedestrian was dragged for about 100 metres until the driver of the van crashed into an patio in the curb lane of Church Street, north of Wood Street.
Police said the man is still being treated. The driver of the van fled the scene, police said, adding that after finding the vehicle on Jarvis Street, they arrested the suspect at Wellesley and Sherbourne streets.
Police charged 25-year-old Mississauga man Shubham Joshi. He appeared in court at Old City Hall Sunday morning.
