OAKVILLE NORTH— BURLINGTON

Alex McKeen

Liberal incumbent Pam Damoff has been re-elected in Oakville North—Burlington.

Damoff defeated Conservative challenger Hanan Rizkalla, a health-care executive and longtime Conservative campaign volunteer.

The riding, which was first contested in the 2015 election, has now elected Damoff for a third time. Before it was created, the area was represented by the riding of Halton, which was most recently represented by Conservative Lisa Raitt.

Damoff was a town councillor in Oakville from 2010 until 2015. She sought the nomination after erstwhile Liberal candidate Max Khan, another town councillor and friend of hers, suddenly died. She served as parliamentary secretary to the minister of Indigenous services.

She chairs the Terry Fox Run in Oakville.

The NDP candidate was Lenaee Dupuis, a self-employed human resources consultant who ran in the 2019 federal election in the riding of Burlington.
