MISSISSAUGA EAST—COOKSVILLE

Peter Fonseca has won the riding of Mississauga East-Cooksville for the Liberals.

He was elected to represent the riding in the House of Commons three times prior to the 2021 election, in 2007, 2015 and 2019. In 2011, he lost to Conservative candidate Wladyslaw Lizon.

Fonseca successfully fended off challenges from Conservative candidate Grace Adamu, an administrator, and NDP candidate Tom Takacs, an ITT business consultant and electrician.

Joseph Westover, a general contractor and small business owner, ran for the People’s Party.

The Green party did not name a candidate in this riding.

Fonseca is a former marathon runner who competed in the Olympics.
