DURHAM

In one of the least surprising results in the Greater Toronto Area, Conservative party leader Erin O’Toole has again cruised to victory in his home riding of Durham.
O’Toole has represented the riding since 2012, when he won a byelection held after the resignation of former Stephen Harper cabinet minister Bev Oda.
In 2019, O’Toole defeated 27year-old Liberal contender and insurance underwriter Jonathan Giancroce, who was again his Liberal opponent this time. (That time, O’Toole won the riding with 42.1 per cent of the votes, to Giancroce’s 32.2 per cent.)
Patricia Conlin ran for the People’s Party of Canada, Chris Cameron represented the NDP and Adam Smith ran for the satirical Rhinoceros Party. Two independent candidates — Sarah Gabrielle Baron and KurdilTelt Patch — also ran against O’Toole.
The riding, which has shifted boundaries and names over the last decades, has been reliably Conservative since 2004.
