KINGVAUGHAN

Josh Rubin

The next Member of Parliament for the riding of KingVaughan was too close to call as of press time.

Liberal incumbent and cabinet minister Deb Schulte was locked in a tight battle with Conservative challenger Anna Roberts.

In 2019, Schulte edged out Roberts, earning 45 per cent of the vote, to Roberts’s 43.2 per cent.

Schulte has held the riding since 2015, when she narrowly beat another Conservative candidate, Konstantin Toubis.

Schulte has been a member of cabinet since 2019, as minister of seniors.

From 2010 to 2014, Schulte served as a regional and city councillor in Vaughan.

Before entering politics, Schulte had a lengthy career with Bombardier Aerospace. She has a degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University.

Roberts has worked in the financial services industry for over two decades, most recently as an agent for a mortgage brokerage.
