ETOBICOKE NORTH

Josh Rubin

Veteran Liberal MP and Deputy House Leader Kirsty Duncan has cruised to victory in Etobicoke North.

Duncan, who has represented the riding since 2008, beat out Conservative candidate Priti Lamba. (Lamba also ran against Duncan in 2011).

Jim Boutsikakis ran for the People’s Party of Canada in a riding that saw Renata Ford, the widow of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, represent the PPC in 2019.

In 2019, Duncan romped to victory over Conservative candidate Sarabjit Kaur, piling up 61.4 per cent of the ballots cast to Kaur’s 22.2 per cent. It was one of the highest Liberal margins of victory in the entire country.

Before entering politics, Duncan was an assistant professor of health studies at the University of Toronto.

In 2003, Duncan published a book entitled “Hunting the 1918 Flu: One Scientist’s Search for a Killer Virus,” about her 1998 expedition to northern Norway to search for the causes of the Spanish flu epidemic.
