TORONTO— ST. PAUL’S

Ben Cohen

Carolyn Bennett has won the riding of Toronto-St. Paul’s for the Liberals.

Bennett has represented the riding in the House of Commons since 1997. She has just been re-elected for the eighth time.

She was appointed minister of Crown-Indigenous relations in 2015, a position she continues to hold. She previously worked as a family physician for 20 years before entering politics.

Bennett successfully fended off challenges from Conservative Stephanie Osadchuk, a mortgage underwriter and yoga entrepreneur, and Green party candidate Phil de Luna, a scientist.

NDP candidate Sidney Coles dropped out of the race after apologizing for social media posts that baselessly linked Israel to missing COVID-19 vaccines.

Bennett earned a degree in medicine from the University of Toronto and worked as a family physician for 20 years at Wellesley Hospital and Women’s College Hospital before entering politics.
