A letter all about letters

So, Zach Hyman leaves and sends a letter to the fans, I hate that. Just leave, you got your money and ridiculous term. The people who should be sending letters to the fans are Kyle Dubas, Mitch Marner and William Nylander for putting the Leafs in this mess.

— Craig M.

I don’t mind those letters. Hyman had a real connection to the city.

Looking at the division and conference for next year, as a lifelong Leaf fan, I’m not sure they’ll make the playoffs. Tampa, Florida, Boston, Carolina, Washington, Islanders, Flyers, Penguins all seem to be better than the Leafs. I also think Ottawa will play tougher this year, along with Montreal and the Rangers. — Peter D.

The Leafs have taken a step back, but I think they’ll make the playoffs. Ottawa is no gimme, but they’re not ready yet. Montreal should also take a step back, at least as the rosters stand today. Lots of change still to come, for all teams.

My comment is all about the Logan Mailloux/Canadiens controversy. I am thoroughly disgusted with a team that drafts such a convicted fool. He displayed the behaviour of a reckless and irresponsible individual. Saying sorry, and the BS that he is on the road to “personal betterment,” insults our intelligence. — Tom S.

Amen, brother. Need more men to speak up to change the culture of hockey.

After all the dust has settled, it has been clearly evident to me that Kyle Dubas has lost the plot. Lou Lamoriello made some iffy choices, but based on results his Islanders made the very best of it. They lost the seventh game of the semis by one goal. Montreal fluked out a win over Tampa Bay because of Carey Price. Now with 51 per cent of the cap dedicated to four players the Golden Boy has proven wanting ... Dubas has failed. Time to fire him. — Peter

I’ll disagree when it comes to Mitch Marner and John Tavares, but I will say that I think Dubas is on a short leash. They’ve got to break through in the playoffs for him to survive into next season.
