Cudmore apologizes for rugby sevens comments

Rugby Canada has condemned “inappropriate comments” aimed at the women’s rugby sevens team after its disappointing performance at the Tokyo Olympics, including social media posts from Jamie Cudmore, who runs Rugby Canada’s national development academy. “Karma is a bitch! #Survivorsmyass,” read one of Cudmore’s tweets, since deleted. Cudmore is a friend of former sevens coach John Tait, who resigned after a complaint from 37 current and former team members about his behaviour. A review found the athlete’s experiences did not fall within Rugby Canada’s definition of harassment or bullying. Cudmore apologized for his tweets via social media. “It was an emotional event for a good friend and I let that get the better of me … I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone.”
