ESPN announced a sevenyear rights deal with the NHL last week, returning the network to hockey for the first time since 2004.

The deal will see ESPN deliver the NHL on a multi-platform package, with 25 games on ESPN or ABC, along with coverage of the playoffs and Stanley Cup final. More than 1,000 games will be streamed by the network as well. á Seattle gets cracking: The expansion Seattle Kraken signed the first player in franchise history Wednesday after agreeing to terms with free-agent centre Luke Henman on a three-year entry-level contract.

Henman, 21, currently plays for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec junior league.

He will complete the season with the Armada before joining Seattle for its rookie training camp later this year.

Henman has a team-high 43 points in 32 games for the Armada this season.
